WHAT IS WORKPLACE VIOLENCE (WPV)?

WPV is any act or threat of physical violence, psychological violence (harassment, intimidation), or other threatening disruptive behavior that occurs at the work site.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE/THREATS INCLUDE:

  • Scratching

  • Spitting

  • Kicking

  • Pushing

  • Punching

  • Throwing Objects

  • Physically Restraining

PSYCHOLOGICAL VIOLENCE (HARASSMENT/INTIMIDATION):

  • Behaviors that degrade, humiliate, alarm, irritate, or verbal insults including abusive words, cursing, bullying, gestures, and intimidations.
