Agenda Item: UM Revenue Cycle meeting w/ management regarding workflow

NYSNA: Nurses from the utilization department have seen a dramatic reduction in workflow. They have requested a meeting to discuss what is happening and yet the meeting hasn’t been scheduled yet.

Management: No one from CMO is present on the call. It’s currently on Janice Reyes’ radar to gather information to have a meeting and she will reach out when prepared to schedule the meeting.

Agenda Item: Waters Place meeting with management

NYSNA: Nurses from MECCMH have requested to have a meeting with management over many patient/employee safety concerns and payroll issues. Is there a reason we can’t meet and discuss all the concerns?

Management: They will reach out to coordinate a meeting.

Agenda Item: Posting of available positions and hiring

NYSNA: Staffing has been incredibly constrained since the return from the strike. We haven’t seen positions getting posted and are not sure why it’s taking so long to post the positions. We have heard of nurses getting mandated in various places.

Management: There are multiple positions for various locations that are in process of getting posted. There was a delay from the changeover to workday… (Workday transition was a while ago!)

Specific to CHAM PACU:

NYSNA: Nurses have been getting mandated to stay after their shift. There were vacancies before and there are more vacancies now. What is the plan to support the unit?

Management: Davy B. to look into this, claims he was not aware and nurses shouldn’t be getting mandated. Will reach out to have a further discussion after he talks with his team.

Agenda Item: Adherence to ratios per MOA

NYSNA: New ratios from negotiations should have been implemented immediately upon return but that hasn’t happened. Management reports a November start for ratio changes. (NOT WHAT HAPPENED GUYS). Nurses spoke about safety concerns due to inadequate staffing.

Management: Didn’t feel like we could talk about it during this meeting. This issue is being discussed at a different level

Agenda Item: SICU Program

NYSNA: What’s the status of the SICU opening? We have heard there will be 12 SICU beds and the other beds will be overflow. How will that work? (Questions to advocate for patient safety and appropriate assignments)

Management: They haven’t submitted for the DOH visit yet. Transitioned all nurses. 21 bed unit. Specialty units will continue to have their patients. An overflow PACU patient who needs critical care may end up there. Management says they will look at competencies and patient needs.
