Negotiations FAQs

What are the priority items this negotiations?
1
What is happening at other NYSNA facilities in bargaining?
Our priorities are:
Safe staffing, acuity based ratios
End the horrific practices of ED overcrowding and Hallway patient placements
Workplace violence protections
We are fighting to protect our immigrant communities
Fair wage and benefit package to recruit and retain nurses.
Protecting our hard-won benefits and pension!!
Management has proposed takebacks on the staffing enforcement language we won by going on strike for the last negotiations! WE WILL NOT GO BACK!
As nurses, we know our power and we know our worth. We want a fair contract, and we
are ready to strike if that’s what it takes to make sure that Bronx patients have the care
they need—because Bronx Patients Deserve Better.
Why can’t I watch negotiations on zoom?

Since January 3rd, we have been using a mediator to help us through the bargaining process. Unfortunately, one of the “tools” used by the mediator is to have small group conversations that are considered off the record. The Executive Committee takes turns to participate in these smaller conversations. These smaller conversations will hopefully finally result in signed tentative agreements! (Or otherwise known as “TAs”)
Management doesn’t want to face the members on these very serious issues.
We’ve seen clearly that our bosses are coordinating in these negotiations—our fellow NYSNA members at hospitals like Mt. Sinai, Presbyterian, have gotten this same big ugly $4,500 proposal. Our bosses are coordinating, but so are we!
Are we really asking for 10% - 10% - 10% for wage increases?

NO! We started with the 10% wage proposal. We have dropped from our original proposal but management didn’t even acknowledge the revised numbers when they proposed their second “bucket” option.
Management is refusing to propose in a percentage format for wages, this is not how we negotiate.
